Rafting the Nile: Uganda

Africa Viza will take you for rafting!

Did you know….. that in Uganda you can experience one of the most exciting and safest rafting in the world…...?

Rafting gives you the unique opportunity to explore upstream the white river Nile for about 31 to 48 km while having fun through the rapids starting close to the source of the river from Lake Victoria.

Choose your activity: one day rafting, half day, 2 or 3 days rafting.

Useful information:

The White Nile
More than four thousand miles in length, the mighty Nile is the longest river on earth. The great waterway has played a monumental role in history. It traverses an incredible variety of landscapes; a colorful medley of cultures and since the beginning of time has enthralled civilizations with its power and mystery. Ancient Egyptian kings sent armies in search of the source of the great river and explorers from Herodotus to Speke have sought to chart its course. Until very recently no one dared challenge the White Nile at its source – some of the most powerful and sustained rapids on earth. With a water temperature of 26 C and a near constant flow, the Nile offers some of the best rafting in the world – year round.

The Rafting:
We recommend choosing the One day rafting option, which tackles the big grade 5 rapids for 31 km from down Bujagali Falls.

Leave Kampala early morning at around 7.30A.M., you have breakfast in Jinja then you will receive some briefing from the guides and some training on water. The lunch is organized with stopover to the island on the river.

The rafting consists of paddling along the river, which is hard in the initial stages of a rapid and holding on for the ride through the heart of some of the biggest rapids on earth.

Groups of people are divided according to their desires, if they wish to take the Wild experience or the Mild one. The difference is actually the way you challenge the rapids, however your guide would know how much forward the team can go and where to stop, then you should not worry.

If you have time and can spend two days, you can take the Two Days Rafting experience, for 48 km up to Malalu. After completing one day rafting, you sleep from Kadogo Island. After that, heavily forested islands divide the mighty Nile into a myriad of thundering channels and we usually follow the one offering the most exciting ride.

Do you need experience?
Clients do not need any previous rafting experience. Life jacket and cask protect you all time. The guide instructs you on all aspects of safety. A rescue team of kayakers are following closely all the boats and ready to take action.
